How to Start a Business in Florida

The launch of the guide “How to Start a Business in Florida” took place at the First Baptist Church of South Florida in Pompano Beach, prepared by the Consulate-General in partnership with the Florida Citizens Council. The event was attended by more than 370 members of the Brazilian business community.

The Consul-General, Ambassador Adalnio Senna Ganem, spoke during the launch ceremony, which also featured presentations from the President of the Florida Citizens Council, Sandra Freier, and a member of that Council responsible for entrepreneurship, Carlo Barbieri, as well as representatives from the government agencies “Small Business Administration” (SBA) and “Fort Lauderdale Small Business Development Center” (SBDC) and the host, Pastor Silair Almeida.
About the project
“How to Start a Business in Florida” is a free informative publication, with 80 pages, divided into 10 chapters. Aimed at helping small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, the guide offers information on how to create a business plan, sources of funding for projects, necessary documentation to open and operate a business in Florida, among other relevant topics, such as:

• Opening and registering a business;
• Information about support entities for small entrepreneurs;
• Trademark and patent registration;
• Sources of funding;
• Acquisition of Companies and Joint Ventures;
• Customs, local differences, and business culture.

Additionally, the guide also presents contact lists of government agencies that support small entrepreneurs, and links with practical guidance aimed at entrepreneurs and self-employed professionals.
