The Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas (CPF) number may replace a series of other documents and will be sufficient for accessing public services. This information was officially published in the Diário Oficial da União.
According to Decree No. 9.723/2019, the CPF number is “sufficient and substitutive” to the following documents:
• Worker Identification Number (NIT);
• PIS/Pasep number; number and series of the Work and Social Security Card (CTPS);
• Driver’s License or National Driver’s License (CNH) number;
• Enrollment number in federal public higher education institutions;
• Numbers of Military Enrollment Certificates, Reservist Certificates, Discharge Certificates, and Exemption Certificates;
• Registration number in the regulatory profession oversight council;
• Registration number in the Unified Registry for Federal Government Social Programs (CadÚnico);
• Other registration numbers existing in federal public databases.
Federal public administration bodies and entities will have to adapt to the systems and procedures for citizen service. Additionally, they will also have a year to consolidate registrations and databases based on the CPF number.
