The Belo Horizonte International Airport, located in Confins (MG), received this week the airport health certificate from the Airport Council International (ACI). The terminal joins four other Brazilian airports (Guarulhos and Viracopos in São Paulo; Brasília; and Galeão in Rio de Janeiro), which have implemented health safety measures for passengers and visitors. The evaluated items include cleaning and disinfection of environments, physical distancing, personnel protection, physical layout, communications, and facilities for travelers.
According to the Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, the certification reinforces the readiness of all tourism segments in the country to ensure a safe environment for visitors. “This recognition gives people who embark and disembark at this airport a sense of security. This initiative, along with the Responsible Tourism Seal from the ministry, which is approaching 27,000 issuances, demonstrates that all tourism segments are committed to protecting the health of Brazilians and those who visit us.”
According to BH Airport, the concessionaire of the Minas Gerais airport, all guidelines from health authorities and the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) have been implemented. Among them are the availability of hand sanitizer throughout the terminal, protective barriers at service points, and informative stickers for floors, seats, restrooms, and elevators. Additionally, the airport has reinforced cleaning and disinfection of common areas, especially restrooms, and launched a communication campaign to raise awareness among the population about the importance of adopting preventive measures.
In total, more than 270 airports worldwide have already been certified by the ACI. The title is valid for 12 months.
