Pelé, 82 years old, was hospitalized on the morning of this Wednesday, November 30, at the Albert Einstein hospital in São Paulo, as confirmed by Kely Nascimento, one of the former player’s daughters, in a post on Instagram.
“There is no surprise or emergency,” Kely stated. She added: “My father (sic) is hospitalized, he is adjusting his medication.” “We are very grateful for all the affection and love you transmit!!” said Kely.
In February of this year, Pelé was hospitalized at Albert Einstein to undergo a series of routine exams. At that time, he treated a urinary tract infection.
In September 2021, the King of Football was diagnosed with cancer while undergoing routine exams at the same hospital where he is currently hospitalized. At that time, he underwent surgery to remove the tumor and returned home after a month. Since then, he has been undergoing chemotherapy, having to return to the hospital every month for periodic follow-up exams. According to the family, these exams are the reason for this week’s hospitalization.
Since the pandemic, the three-time world champion has reduced his public appearances.
