A survey conducted for Google by Ipsos — a company specialized in market research and public opinion — interviewed 21,000 people in 21 countries and found that Brazil is above the global average in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in 2024, with 54% of Brazilians reporting the use of generative AI, compared to the global average of 48%.
At least 60% of Brazilians believe that AI will have positive effects, including job creation. This same view is shared by 49% of respondents globally. The proportion of Brazilians who trust the changes in the job market caused by AI increased from 62% to 68% in one year. In 2023, 20% of Brazilian workers impacted by AI in the job market believed they would need a new job. In 2024, this number dropped to 15%.
The survey indicates that Brazilians see AI as a transformative force in various sectors, with science (80%), medicine (77%), agriculture (74%), and cybersecurity (67%) being the most highlighted. Meanwhile, 64% of Brazilians believe that the benefits of innovation, whether in science or medicine, outweigh the risks of AI progress.
Areas that facilitate daily life were also enthusiastically mentioned by Brazilian respondents. Highlights included online information search (81%), personal assistance (76%), and study support (74%). There is also consensus on the importance of tools like writing assistants (85%) and translators (89%). Three out of four interviewed Brazilians (78%) said they use AI at work, and 88% of respondents consider it essential to use AI to handle complex information and find innovative solutions to business challenges.
