Aracaju, the City of the Hawk and the Cashew – The Brasilians

Aracaju, the City of the Hawk and the Cashew

Aracaju is located in the state of Sergipe, in the Northeast region of Brazil. It goes without saying that the beaches offer moments of peace and tranquility, fun and joy in a beautiful setting of dunes, palm trees, and warm waters.

But Aracaju is not just about beaches. The city is one of the best capitals in the country in terms of quality of life. Modern, youthful, calm, full of bike paths and very well planned, the destination has streets designed to end at the Sergipe River, which runs through the city and flows into the sea.

Aracaju has become an excellent tourist destination due to the quality of its attractions and the overall tranquility.

The Atalaia Waterfront is a large entertainment complex, with hotels and restaurants. It is home to the Oceanarium, featuring 18 tanks displaying various species of Brazilian marine fauna, managed by the Tamar Project, a reference project in the preservation of sea turtles in Brazil.

Take advantage of the riverbank to stroll through the historic capital, starting at the Emperor’s Bridge. In the Historic Center, you will find churches, monuments, museums, shopping malls, and handicrafts.

To savor the flavors of local cuisine, a visit to the Popular Market of Aracaju is a must. Try the tropical fruits and dishes based on shellfish, such as crabs, which are a symbol of the local cuisine. There, you will also get to know the cultural diversity of the place through clothing and embroidery.

June is marked by festivals that celebrate some of the main patron saints of the month in the country, such as Saint Anthony, Saint Peter, Saint John, and Saint Paul.

The event features beautiful scenery, delicious typical foods, and lively quadrilhas, a group dance inspired by European quadrilhas that reenacts a fictional wedding and is very common during the Festas Juninas.
