The biggest Brazilian party of all is coming! – The Brasilians

The biggest Brazilian party of all is coming!

Once a year, New York turns green and yellow to celebrate Brazilian culture and spirit. The most anticipated party of the year, BR Day NY, will take place on September 2, during Labor Day weekend, from 11 AM to 6 PM, on 6th Avenue, in the heart of Manhattan.

This sensational celebration is one of the largest public events on New York’s official summer calendar. It attracts a multicultural audience of Brazilians living in different regions of the United States and many other admirers of Brazilian culture. For 32 years, they have gathered to celebrate Brazil’s Independence with music, dance, food, and the warmth of the Brazilian people.

The event was created in 1984 on 46th Street (also known as Little Brazil) by entrepreneur João de Matos, who is still the producer of the event. Over the years, the number of attendees has grown so much that it had to be moved and expanded to its current location.

This year, BR Day NY celebrates its 34th edition, expecting to gather more than 1 million people who will enjoy free shows from a golden team of artists coming straight from Brazil. The Brazilian rock band Paralamas do Sucesso, the sertanejo duo Matheus & Kauan, music producer Dennis along with guests Tony Garrido and Mc Koringa, and the winner of The Voice Brasil Kids, Eduarda Brasil. TV host Ana Furtado will present the shows for the first time.

“For sure, this is the biggest celebration of the Brazilian community in the United States. It’s a gigantic party, and it will be a privilege to be part of it this year. We are super excited,” says João Barone, drummer of Paralamas do Sucesso.

“I will play classic funk, hits, and a mix of rhythms like sertanejo, pop, rock, samba… It’s like our country, a mix that embraces and speaks to everyone,” announces Dennis. “I hope to find joy, I hope people gather, have fun, jump, dance, raise their arms, and get down to the ground,” he adds.
BR Day NY is an opportunity not only to enjoy great names in Brazilian music but also to savor delicious Brazilian cuisine at food stalls from various regions of the country spread along 6th Avenue and 46th Street, Little Brazil.

BR Day NY is co-produced by entrepreneur João de Matos, The Brasilians newspaper, and TV Globo. For more information, visit the festival’s website: www.brazilianday.com
