President Michel Temer analyzed the seven months of his government and spoke about expectations for this year.
He cited several examples and measures already taken by the government that will help end the economic crisis. Temer mentioned, among other things, the reduction of interest rates and the fight against inflation. “In these few months of our administration, much has been done. As a result of our recent efforts, inflation has fallen and is back within the annual target, which will curb the high prices you feel at the supermarket.”
Michel Temer recalled the achievements of the government since May, such as the approval of the law that limits the increase of public spending for the next twenty years and the law that increases transparency in the management of state-owned companies.
Temer also reflected that he is aware of the country’s problems, such as the high tax burden paid by citizens, “who receive little in return.” Therefore, he assessed that one of the challenges ahead is to reduce bureaucracy and improve the quality of public services offered to the population.
The president expressed confidence that in 2017 companies will start investing again, and the country will begin to recover the jobs lost. According to him, this year the Brazilian economy will grow again, but this time in a “sustainable and responsible” manner.
