Taylor Swift Makes History at the Grammy Awards – The Brasilians

The 66th edition of the Grammy Awards took place on Sunday (4) in Los Angeles, California, celebrating major names in global music.

As expected, Taylor Swift won the night’s top category – Album of the Year – for her album “Midnights,” making history in the process. Swift became the only artist to win four times in the most important category of the award, surpassing names like Frank Sinatra and Stevie Wonder, who have won the award three times. Swift’s album also received the award for Best Pop Vocal Album.

In her victory speech, the singer announced that another album will be released in April this year, titled “The Tortured Poets Department.”

Miley Cyrus also stood out at the ceremony, taking home the Record of the Year award for the song ‘Flowers,’ which also won for Best Pop Solo Performance. Meanwhile, Billie Eilish won the awards for Song of the Year and Best Song for Visual Media for the song ‘What Was I Made For?’, created for the movie ‘Barbie’.
Were there Brazilians competing?

Yes. Eliane Elias, Ivan Lins, and Luciana Souza & Trio Corrente were the Brazilian nominees for the Grammy 2024. The three were competing for the award for Best Latin Jazz Album, alongside Bobby Sanabria Multiverse Big Band and Miguel Zenón & Luis Perdomo. The winner was “El Arte Del Bolero Vol. 2” by Miguel Zenón & Luis Perdomo.

A total of 94 different categories awarded albums, songs, and artists, including three newcomers: Best African Music Performance, Best Alternative Jazz Album, and Best Dance Pop Recording.

But aside from the nominations, the Grammy is a celebrity show. Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Dua Lipa took the stage at the Crypto.com Arena for separate performances. For the fourth consecutive year, the ceremony was hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah.
