Every Saturday, Rua do Lavradio, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, hosts the Feira Rio Antigo. This century-old street, which is home to historic houses, bars, antique shops, and cultural spaces, offers a relaxed program for those who want to learn about the city’s history and have fun without spending anything.
The event, although free, serves as an ode to shopping. Hundreds of stalls offer various products, from furniture to clothing, accessories, and decorative items. Leaving the place empty-handed is almost impossible.
While enjoying the stroll, you can take advantage of one of the bars and restaurants in the area to sip on a caipirinha and admire the architectural beauty of Rua do Lavradio. To create a more relaxed atmosphere, the exhibitors promote musical performances, photography exhibitions, and dance shows.
The Feira Rio Antigo gathers around 300 exhibitors and attracts a loyal audience of 15,000 visitors at each edition, helping to boost the economic landscape of the region and revitalizing the environment of this historic center of Rio de Janeiro.
