After four years of declines, new vehicle sales have risen again in Brazil. In 2017 alone, more than 2 million vehicles were registered.
In 2017, the growth was 9.23%, increasing from 2 million in 2016 to 2.23 million. The data was released by the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).
All segments saw significant increases. According to Fenabrave, the largest sales increase was in the bus segment, with a rise of 10.66% compared to 2016. Passenger cars grew by 9.94%, and light commercial vehicles by 6.09%. Truck sales increased by 3.53% during the period.
The Fenabrave numbers refer to the number of vehicles registered in Brazil. In December, the region of the country that purchased the most vehicles was the Southeast, accounting for 49.66% of the total; the South followed with 19.34%; then the Northeast (15.83%); the Central-West (9.61%); and the North with (5.61%).
