Feature Film Pecado Vermelho – The Brasilians

Feature Film Pecado Vermelho

Driven by the desire to speak about the Black experience from a different perspective, far from stereotypes, artists have filmed the feature film “Pecado Vermelho”. The film, which tells the story of a romance between a spirit, the ‘Gypsy Pombagira’, and a man, was shot in Paulínia (SP) and in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. The project brought together a team from various parts of Brazil and was made possible by the collective effort of its members. In an interview on the pop radio, we will learn more about this project that is currently in the editing phase. The narrative raises themes such as homosexuality, prejudice, and child violence, which were so common in the 80s, as well as in today’s world.

The story of João Pedro (Pedro Pauleey) leads us to reflect on our fears and insecurities and, above all, teaches us the word respect. Respect for others, for different beliefs, and for one’s own life.

The story begins in a migratory station in Mexico City, where he receives a visit from the kind Mr. Dompson (Isaac Bardavid) and in the Do Além hill, in the interior of Minas Gerais. João Pedro is caught between two worlds, one ruled by a mysterious gypsy and the other by his past memories in a prison in Mexico. His entire past is narrated in the first person over a few hours.

An astonishing story, narrated by the Gypsy (Carol Hubner), where the audience is drawn between Pedro’s past and present.

The miner João Pedro could never have imagined that his turbulent childhood and his love for Marinete (Jana Torres) would transform him into an adventurer and lead him to throw himself wholeheartedly into the search for a great love. With nothing, he sets foot on the road and goes to explore the world, unaware that danger lurked in his destiny. He dreamed of open, free borders, but encountered the usual delinquency on this customary crossing to the United States.

Not far from reality, João Pedro’s life could be that of any Brazilian. The author skillfully ties together the turmoil of his journey. Like the lives of many Brazilians, João Pedro, despite his unique appearance, demonstrates that above all, he has immense respect for others.
The film features a stellar cast led by Isaac Bardavid, Pedro Pauleey, Hugo Gross, Christianne OLiveira, and Carol Hubner. Directed by Bellamir Freire.
