LBV and partners distribute food and school supplies in Newark, NJ

The solidarity action aims to assist families in vulnerable situations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the SOS Disaster Relief campaign, the Legion of Good Will (LGW), the LBV of the USA, has been collecting and distributing food baskets to families affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, more than 700 families in the United States have benefited, with the help of a network of supporters. This initiative is part of a global campaign that has already distributed over 1300 tons of food and personal hygiene items in seven countries.

With the return of schools to remote classes, LBV has started distributing, along with food baskets, school supply kits for the most vulnerable families in the Newark, New Jersey area. In partnership with public schools in the region, the organization hopes to alleviate the financial impact caused by the pandemic, where many families cannot return to work. The action aims to assist school-age students by distributing essential materials such as notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, rulers, among other items.

Danilo Parmegiani, the organization’s representative in the United States, emphasizes: “LBV’s commitment is to promote food security and quality education, and at this moment, we need to ensure that school-age children have the minimum necessary to continue their studies, whether remotely or in person.”

You can still support the campaign, visit www.lgw.org/donate and make your donation electronically.
