The Gaúcho Pampa that covers the nooks of Rio Grande do Sul is a unique Biome in the world.
Nowhere else in Brazil can you find the species of plants and animals that inhabit the region, nor the sociocultural expressions of the populations of this land.
Traversing the history and fields of this Campanha is a journey through
time. You will be moved by the determination, the will to live, the dream of peace and freedom, and the strong roots of the border gaúcho.
In addition to enjoying the natural and architectural landscapes in the old estâncias, charqueadas, criollo horse stables, beautiful studs, and magnificent
natural beauties, you will see the living portrait of the various phases of the state’s history and the gaúcho people, amidst cattle, sheep, and horses, experiencing the rural tasks, savoring the true barbecue. You will hear tales of battles and bravery from heroes like Bento Gonçalves and Antônio de Souza Netto.
Alto Camaquã
This is a highly differentiated region in terms of soil due to
its rocky formations, its vegetation with a mosaic of fields and natural forests, the traditional forms of production in native and family livestock farming, beautiful mountainous landscapes, and its participation in the history of Bagé and the state.
Currently, the region has a Network organization composed of 18 community associations from eight municipalities, all affiliated with the Association for Sustainable Development of Alto Camaquã – ADAC, which is a
non-profit civil association aimed at promoting the sustainable development of the territory. The Network of Producers and Entrepreneurs of Alto Camaquã – ReAC, brings together more than 300 producers.
City of Bagé
Arriving in Bagé, The Queen of the Frontier, we find fraternity, history, and diverse tourist itineraries.
The welcome is fraternal, hospitable, and friendly, as tourists will have the conviction that the population of this city considers the visitor a brother, regardless of nationality.
Bagé carries with it one of the richest histories, standing out among the
main municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul. The Queen of the Frontier is one of the 13 Historical Cities of the State and one of the 176 Historical Cities of Brazil.
Its history intertwines with that of Rio Grande do Sul, as it was the stage for territorial disputes, being a key piece in the occupation of the gaúcho territory.
Among the main events, the International Barbecue Festival, the
International Crioula Week, one of the great rural festivals of MERCOSUL, Dança Bagé, Galponeira da Canção, Bagé Expo Fair, Expo Alto Camaquã Tourism, Culture, FIMP – International Music Festival of the Pampa, and the
International Film Festival of the Frontier stand out.
Bagé was one of the gaúcho municipalities contested by Spaniards and Portuguese throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. It stands out on the international scene for its primary activity, producing some of the best meats in the world. It also hosts what is best in horse production, with one of the largest and most modern sets of studs in Brazil. During the Farroupilha Revolution, several battles were fought in its fields between the forces of the Empire and the Republicans. Peace talks also began there.
