Business confidence in the Brazilian economy ended last year on a high note. In December, the Business Confidence Index (ICE), developed by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), reached 93.1 points on a scale of 0 to 200, marking the sixth consecutive increase. The indicator is now at its highest level since April 2014.
In practice, the higher index indicates a greater possibility of investments in the country, leading to the creation of jobs and income for Brazilians. It also reflects the measures taken by the Brazilian government to ensure the resumption of economic growth.
“2017 ends with improved perceptions about the current business landscape and a return to optimism,” said FGV’s superintendent of statistics, Aloisio Campelo Jr, who added that “this scenario suggests that business confidence should continue to advance in the coming months.”
