It’s very good to tell inspiring stories of people who stopped making excuses and went to seek a solution. This is the case of a Brazilian who went to NY and achieved success by doing something that the vast majority of people know how to do: brigadeiro.
Paula Barbosa, 31, worked for 8 years in the fashion industry. Then she went to New York to take a business course and decided to innovate by presenting a course project on gourmet brigadeiros instead of clothing. The idea was so cool that she launched My Sweet Brigadeiro in March 2011.
In addition to the traditional brigadeiro, she makes the sweet in flavors like pistachio, almonds, ginger, and even more exotic ones like lavender, pumpkin pie, and chili.
If you found that strange, know that these treats have been tasted by names like Al Pacino, Alessandra Ambrosio, Halle Berry, and Natalia Vodianova, and became so popular that they ended up in the food section of “The New York Times,” on the “Cooking Channel,” and on Oprah Winfrey’s blog. Many people might say that she probably had investment to start the business or that the idea wasn’t original, but regardless of these factors, what is inspiring is the attitude of making it happen, simply specializing in doing one thing better than everyone else, and getting hands-on to bring the dream to life.
