The National Electoral Chamber of Argentina (CNE) released the official results of the 2025 national legislative elections this Sunday (26), confirming an overwhelming victory for the ruling party La Libertad Avanza, which obtained 40.84% of the votes nationwide. The main opposition force, Fuerza Patria, got only 25%. The information is from the C5N channel.
According to the CNE, the numbers reflect the tally of 96% of the polling stations. The ruling party received broad support across the country, winning in 16 provinces, including Buenos Aires, where the ticket led by Diego Santilli (41.52%) defeated the Peronists (40.84%) — a symbolic result, given that in the local elections held just over a month ago the Peronists had won by 14 points.
The elections, which determine the composition of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, had turnout below 70%, the lowest rate since the return of democracy in Argentina.
Chief of Staff Guillermo Francos highlighted that the election represented “strong national support for the government”. According to the official results, La Libertad Avanza won in Buenos Aires, CABA, Chubut, Corrientes, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, San Luis, Santa Fe and Tierra del Fuego.
On the other hand, Fuerza Patria came first in Catamarca, Formosa, La Pampa, San Juan, Santa Cruz and Tucumán.
President Milei declared that “the era of a free and great Argentina” had begun
In an euphoric speech at the Hotel Libertador in Buenos Aires, Argentine President Javier Milei celebrated the victory of the La Libertad Avanza (LLA) coalition in this Sunday’s legislative elections and anticipated a new phase of transformation in the country. The information was provided by the Argentine channel C5N.
Milei stated that, starting December 10, when the new deputies and senators take office, the government will promote “the most reformist Congress in Argentine history”. According to him, the electoral results — with victories in 16 of the 24 districts — represent a ratification of his government program and the beginning of a “new era” for the country.
“Today was a historic day. The Argentine people decided to leave behind 100 years of decadence. The construction of a great Argentina begins”, declared the president, amid applause.
Milei Seeks New Political Support Base
The speech had a celebratory tone, but also pragmatic. Milei invited the governors to participate in a discussion table to debate a new framework of political and economic agreements — an initiative interpreted as an attempt to ensure governability in the second half of his term.
“In addition to the usual misfits, there are dozens of deputies and senators for whom one plus one equals two. Now we can finally transform the bases of the May Pact into law”, stated the president.
With the new results, Milei’s party increased from 37 to 101 deputies and from 6 to 20 senators, significantly expanding its parliamentary strength. According to the president, this majority will allow advancing structural reforms that were blocked by Congress.
“Populism Never Again”
During the speech, Milei again criticized previous governments and praised the popular support he received.
“The Argentines said enough to populism. No more populism! Two out of every three Argentines do not want to go back to the past”, he declared. “In the next two years, we must reaffirm the reformist path to consolidate growth and Argentina’s decoupling.” The president also described the result as a confirmation of the “2023 mandate”, highlighting that his government “prevented the fall of Argentina” by facing what he described as a “minefield” left by previous administrations.
Libertarian Bunker and Presence of Allies
At the Hotel Libertador, Milei was accompanied by central figures from his government and the libertarian coalition: his sister Karina Milei, president of the LLA and general secretary of the Presidency; the president of the Chamber, Martín Menem; the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo; the Minister of Infrastructure, Federico Sturzenegger; the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello; and the newly appointed chancellor, Pablo Quirno.
Also participating were the elected senator Patricia Bullrich, advisor Santiago Caputo, spokesperson Manuel Adorni, and deputies Diego Santilli, Lilia Lemoine and Cristian Ritondo, among other leaders and supporters.
With the strengthening of his base in Congress, Milei seeks to consolidate his agenda of economic deregulation and reduction of the State’s role, promising to accelerate reforms after the reinforcement obtained at the polls.
