September is coming. And everyone who loves Brazil and admires Brazilian culture knows it’s time for the biggest party of all in New York. The 35th edition of BR Day NY will take place on September 1st, the Sunday before Labor Day, on 6th Avenue, between 42nd and 57th Streets and Little Brazil (46th Street), from 11 AM to 6 PM.
The producers of BR Day NY have announced the event’s lineup:
Simone & Simaria
The country duo Simone and Simaria are well-known throughout Brazil. They were born in the state of Bahia and during their childhood, the sisters already showed an interest in music. At ages 5 and 7, they participated in talent contests. By 14, they had the
opportunity to join the band of the famous Brazilian country singer Frank Aguiar.
In 2012, they decided to pursue an independent career as a country duo. They made the right choice. Today, they are followed by thousands of fans not only in Brazil but also here in the USA.
Simone and Simaria will present some of their many hits to the audience on Sixth Avenue in a show that promises to move those present.
Jorge & Mateus
Representatives of what is called in Brazil “Sertanejo Universitário,” Jorge & Mateus are considered one of the leading country duos in Brazilian music today.
They have been on the road since 2005 and have participated in a previous edition of BR Day NY. In 2012, Jorge & Mateus’ performance on Sixth Avenue was an
absolute success.
The duo’s numbers are impressive: 14 years of history and an average of 200 shows per year. In addition to being the most followed Brazilians on Spotify, their songs have been played in 61 countries by over 10 million fans. On Deezer, Jorge and Mateus are also the artists with the most followers in Brazil. In 2016, the song “Sosseguei” was among the most played on the radio and today on YouTube has approximately 380 million views. They are the only Brazilian country artists with over 1 billion plays on Spotify.
Alok
