Synopsis: Stella, Come Home is a dance-theater piece that translates the iconic American play A Streetcar Named Desire into movement and dance through the bodies of the international women of the Et Alia Theatre Company. We feel compelled to explore what it means to represent this pinnacle of American theater as immigrant women in New York City, one of the most heterogeneous cities in the world. Just as Blanche, tormented by her new reality, longs for a return to Belle Reve, we are foreigners undergoing the painful struggle of leaving our past behind, while the promised land of New York forces us to confront our truth: culturally diverse women still have to fight to claim their space.

SarAika Movement Collective is a movement collective based in New York since 2021, founded by Aika Takeshima (Japan) and Sara Pizzi (Italy), both immigrants, lgbtqa+, supporters and representatives of the BIPOC movement. Their art is a form of activism, documenting relevant issues and topics, creating space for reflection. To fulfill their mission of helping people find more freedom and possibilities within themselves, they create art about and for human beings, breaking the concept of standard performance and creating collaborative, conceptual, and interactive artistic experiences. Coming from a multifaceted education, Sara & Aika based their choreography on contemporary dance, duets, floor work, improvisational skills, storytelling, conceptual art, and street style influences.

Et Alia Theater is a theater company based in New York founded and led by international women. We bring together an unknown combination of foreign and immigrant voices and provide them with a space to explore and exchange their multicultural perspectives. We use our art to expose the obstacles faced by immigrant women and to empower our community. As a company committed to dismantling borders, Et Alia is not limited to a single form of work and is open to creating conversations through different styles of theater. We seek to make the ‘out of place’ a place. Et Alia is Latin for ‘And Another’: we create art for the other, by the other, and about the other.

Et Alia Theater is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas and is proud to be a member of A.R.T. New York and Materials for the Arts.
