After Madonna, Bruno Mars Promises to Attract Crowds in Brazil

International artists know that there is no people that throws a better party than the Brazilians. Madonna chose to end her tour celebrating her 40 years of career in Rio de Janeiro and, after drawing a crowd of 1.6 million people, she certainly has no regrets.

Now it’s Bruno Mars who promises to attract crowds. The pop star, in an interview with Fantástico (5) on TV Globo, revealed that he is returning to Brazil for a series of concerts and to celebrate his birthday. Is there a better place to celebrate a birthday?

It hasn’t been long since Bruno sang in Brazil. Last year, he performed two shows during “The Town” and won over the audience, who quickly nicknamed him “Bruninho.”

He said during the interview with Fantástico that the shows in Brazil are always different because of the energy of the people. He expressed his love for the country.

“I fell in love with a part of Brazil when I was a kid. My dad took me to the movies to see a film about capoeira. And from then on, I started dreaming about one day going to Brazil,” he said.

Problems with the Rio de Janeiro City Hall

Live Nation, the production company behind Bruno’s trip to Brazil, started the pre-sale of tickets for the shows on Thursday (9), which are set to take place in three cities: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasília.

After the sales opened at 9 AM, all tickets sold out within an hour on the Ticketmaster platform.

The tickets refer to the new dates announced on Wednesday (8). In São Paulo, the new shows will take place on October 12 and 13 at the Morumbi Stadium. Two other performances were already scheduled for October 8 and 9 in SP, and those tickets are sold out.

In Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Mars’ production is facing a problem. The city’s mayor, Eduardo Paes, ordered the suspension of ticket sales and stated that he will not grant the group the necessary permits for the show. He mentioned that the issue is the chosen date: October 4, just before the elections, which are set for October 6.

“To imagine that any large event will take place in Rio de Janeiro (I would even say in Brazil) just before the elections is absurd due to the need to mobilize a large number of public agents,” Paes wrote on X.

“We informed the production of Bruno Mars’ show on the same day the date of October 4 for the show in Rio de Janeiro was announced. Even so, they went ahead with ticket sales. The city of Rio de Janeiro has not and will not grant authorization for the said event during the election week,” he added.

The mayor concluded by stating that Bruno Mars will be very welcome in Rio de Janeiro on another date.

Live Nation spoke of “date updates,” without providing further details: “We will work closely with the mayor’s office to find a solution for the fans. All pre-sale and sale information will be released soon along with updates on the event dates,” says a statement posted on social media…

Meanwhile, Bruno Mars shows great excitement for another visit to Brazil:

“Bruninho is back. Bigger and better than ever… But now, it will be Brunão!!” he stated to Fantástico.
