Corumbá, the Capital of the Exotic Pantanal

Corumbá is a city in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, on the border between Brazil and Bolivia, close to Paraguay and Argentina. This privileged location gives the city a mix that is reflected in its culture, such as the taste for tango and art nouveau architecture. As the gateway to the Pantanal, Corumbá has attractions specially prepared for this tourist destination. Starting with the culinary specialties, such as piranha soup and alligator tail meat. The visitation spaces also follow the Pantanal theme. The Luis de Albuquerque Cultural Institute houses in its collection stuffed animals, pieces from indigenous tribes, and objects from the first explorers of the biome – a group of living beings in a certain area. The Pantanal biome encompasses the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul. The Pantanal History Museum presents the story of how people arrived in the region and maintains a collection of sounds and images that make you feel as if you are truly in the locations. Additionally, the Pantanal Nature Station displays 3D models and images of the main species that inhabit the area.

One of the most sought-after places is the Casario do Porto, declared a cultural heritage site by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN). Another equally popular option is the Artisan House, which sells products made of leather, wood, and ceramics, as well as liqueurs and snacks.

Bonito is also worth a visit, as it is one of the main ecotourism and adventure destinations in Brazil, located 300 km from Campo Grande. In its crystal-clear waters, the colors of the fish contrast with the deep green of the local forests.

The main tourist attraction in Corumbá is the Pantanal. You can embark on an incredible journey along the Estrada Parque. It is 120 km of dirt road, 87 wooden bridges, and a ferry to cross the Paraguay River between Buraco das Piranhas and Corumbá. Along the way, it is possible to spot numerous wild animals.

The Pantanal farms are also a fantastic attraction. There are also fishing boats that offer comfort and convenience for amateur fishing.
