The Brazilian government will invest R$ 35.25 million in the production and commercialization of electronic games and an additional R$ 10 million in accelerators. The announcement was made in December during the launch ceremony of a new policy held at Comic Con Experience in São Paulo.
Brazil is currently the 13th largest game producer in the world. The exponential growth of the sector in the country was
noted by former Minister of Culture Sá Leitão. “There has been very strong growth since the first census conducted in 2014. The industry is growing at an exponential rate, well above the average of the creative economy, which is already very high. I believe that the demand proves the suitability of these lines of credit.”
About 400 game companies are active in the country and produce games regularly. New projects will be selected through public calls.
