The Brazil Brown Bag Seminar Series invites you to a discussion titled “Challenges for Results-Oriented Management in Cultural Management in the Public Sector of Rio de Janeiro,” featuring Carolina Kuenerz Haegler, a professional colleague at the Institute of Latin American Studies at Columbia University.
The public management focused on results is one of the most important topics in Brazil today, and efforts for its implementation have been growing in recent years. Despite these efforts, many do not last after government transitions and changes in leadership. This lecture will focus on analyzing some of these recent efforts and understanding which aspects can ensure, or not, their ability to maintain a sustainable culture of results-oriented management. The sustainability capacity of the initiatives is analyzed with theses on the following aspects: strategies used to develop and engage public servants; capacity to improve leadership; channels for civil society participation; ability to create a culture of performance innovation; tools to measure social value and social impact.
Carolina Kuenerz holds a degree in Psychology from PUC-RJ and a master’s degree in Human Rights from LSE. She worked for 8 years in Rio de Janeiro in the State Government, developing projects aimed at improving efficiency in public management, leadership capacity, and enhancing the management and efficiency of public servants.
