Scholarship for Brazilian Students

Brazilian doctoral students in the fields of social sciences, humanities, letters, literature, and arts can apply for one of 25 nine-month scholarships starting in August/September and ending in April/May 2017. In cases where the scholarship recipient is selected for intensive English training, the duration of the scholarship may be extended by an additional 4 weeks before the start of the academic program.

Priority will be given to all qualified candidates, including those from underrepresented populations. These include, but are not limited to, members of racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBTI individuals, people with disabilities, low-income individuals, members of religious minorities, and individuals from disadvantaged locations and regions.

Requirements

• Must be a Brazilian national and not hold U.S. citizenship;

• Must be enrolled in a doctoral program in Brazil;

• Must have proven proficiency in English with TOEFL IBT (minimum 71) or ITP (minimum 527) taken after August 1, 2015;

• Must have an invitation letter, in English, from the internship supervisor in the U.S.;

• Must reside in Brazil at the time of application and throughout the selection process; and

• Must not combine this scholarship with others for doctoral studies abroad.

• Assistance for participation in academic/scientific events in the U.S., upon approval, of up to $2,000;
