Amazon, the online retail giant, has launched a new brand called “Wickedly Prime” featuring a logo with the Amazon smile, but with the addition of a tongue detail.
“We are Wickedly Prime, and our passion for experimenting and sharing the best flavors from around the world inspired us to create a new line of food and beverages, available exclusively to Amazon Prime members,” says the introductory page, showcasing gourmet popcorn, tortilla chips, potato chips, and almonds.
The e-commerce giant began launching private label products in June 2016, starting with Happy Belly coffee and Mama Bear baby food. In these cases, the company has gone much further, as it has its own “private label” brands.
The company also has its non-food brands. It sells household goods and other items under the Amazon Basics and Amazon Elements brands.
All of this is also part of a broader retail strategy for Amazon. The company is taking a new step with the opening of the new Amazon Go store in Seattle. Amazon is also expected to open grocery stores, possibly starting in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, as part of its brick-and-mortar retail strategy.
