Certainly, you have heard of personal branding, but I don’t believe you have been convinced of its importance for achieving success in life. Here, I will present some important steps for you to put into practice immediately!
The first step involves delving into the dark corners of your mind and discarding all your harmful and destructive beliefs, such as:
− Money is dirty.
− You can’t have it all in life.
− The higher you climb, the harder you fall.
− It’s better to be poor and honest than rich and dishonest.
These negative beliefs were acquired linguistically and, therefore, can also be removed linguistically. You just need to want it and believe that positive affirmations, stated with authority, can replace your negative beliefs.
The next step involves self-awareness. By knowing yourself, you identify your skills, talents, weaknesses, and fears, becoming aware of your starting point. In this process, be realistic. Look at yourself with the same critical eye that you can cast on others. View yourself impartially, without being too harsh or too lenient. Try to observe yourself from the outside, as if you were someone else.
Finally, discover what others think and say about you. But be prepared, as there is a true chasm between the image we have of ourselves and the one others have of us. Make the necessary adjustments to establish congruence between your self-image and the one you project. Be honest. If you don’t know what the other person thinks about you, ask!
Having done that, it’s time to draw up an action plan. Remember: Personal Branding is a sales process where the “product” is you. And for the “clients” to buy you, you need to be committed to yourself. A good package is not enough. The content must be authentic! You have to believe in every word you say about yourself and what you claim you are capable of doing, because if you don’t believe it, hardly anyone else will.
According to your professional field, it is possible to determine a target audience, which should be registered and kept updated so that you can implement a relationship policy. But more important than that are the personal contacts you can make at conferences, courses, and other activities relevant to your field.
As a “product,” you need to win over clients, and the most important interface of a product with its potential consumers is the packaging. In this case, your packaging is your way of dressing, your personal and professional posture, your body language, and what you say. Always stay updated. Work to ensure that the whole set is harmonious and that the packaging and content are congruent! Otherwise, the result can be devastating!
