The Brazilian Endowment for the Arts in New York is accepting applications
for the Brazilian Literary Award for Young Talents.
The aim of this contest is to encourage young writers who are children of Brazilian immigrants born in the United States or born in Brazil and moved to the U.S. as children and are currently living in the New York area. The first place winner will receive a laptop.
The institution would like to receive works of creative writing. To learn about the participation conditions, please read the following regulations before submitting documents to the email address beayoungcontest@gmail.com.
What are the prizes?
• The 1st place in each category will receive a Dell Inspiron 11.6” laptop and one year free membership to the Brazilian Endowment for the Arts;
• The 2nd place will receive $100 (one hundred dollars);
• The 3rd place will receive a book of Brazilian literature.
Who can participate?
Any child between 13 and 17 years old, child of Brazilian parents
born in the U.S. or born in Brazil and currently residing in New York.
In which categories can one compete?
The award has the following categories: prose, poetry, and short story. Each child may select ONE category and submit only ONE work. Each category will have prizes for the top three winners.
What is the submission deadline?
The submission deadline is November 30, 2017.
How to register?
Young writers can register by sending an email to beayoungcontest@gmail.com. You must copy and fill out the following form in a document and send your work in another. The document containing your work MUST NOT contain your name. These two files MUST be sent (in .doc, .docx, or .pdf) as attachments to the registration email. If either of the two documents is missing, the applicant will be disqualified. Multiple emails from the same applicant will not be accepted. The registration email must have the following subject: “BEA young contest 2017”.
