The Book of Mormon on Broadway

The Book of Mormon on Broadway is one of the five highest-grossing shows on Broadway.

The musical was created by the duo behind the success of “South Park,” Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with Robert Lopez, creator of “Avenue Q.”

In 2011, the show was nominated for 14 Tony Awards and won 9, including “Best Musical.”

The Book of Mormon is currently playing at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre and tells the story of two young Mormon missionaries: Elder Arnold Cunningham and Elder Kevin Price. They are sent to Uganda to convert the natives to Mormonism. They soon realize that things are not going as they expected; the natives are blasphemous and the local leader is a gay man who has not come out of the closet.

In short, it is very different from sunny Florida, the place where the missionaries had hoped to go.

The musical is funny and provocative, with great music.

No subject is off-limits: AIDS, genocide, genital mutilation, poverty, religion, and even The Lion King.

The Book of Mormon is proof that we can laugh at almost anything. But did you expect anything different from the creators of ‘South Park’?
