The street carnival was the highlight in 2018

About 200,000 people in 63 blocks were present to celebrate with the energy of the Saturday blocks in Rio de Janeiro. The number exploded when Sunday arrived. There were 850,000 revelers in the streets following 47 blocks. Notably, among these numbers, 500,000 revelers came just to see the Bloco da Preta, which brought with it various personalities such as Carolina Dieckmann and Pabllo Vittar. Actress Carolina Dieckmann was so excited that at one point she decided to join the revelers, getting off the sound truck to jump in the street. For a moment, Preta Gil had to interrupt the show due to a small fight in the crowd, but then the party continued and moved on to the city center. Saturday’s fun also brought a particular message in the blocks that campaigned for “Carnival without harassment.” On the charming Island of Paquetá, the traditional block Pérola da Guanabara drew thousands of revelers to fill the ferries heading to the island. The block Simpatia É Quase Amor pushed a crowd all the way to Ipanema. The southern zone of Rio also had plenty of revelry on Sunday with the blocks Suvaco do Cristo and Chora Me Liga. In Copacabana, this year’s party was all about the dogs. That’s right. It was time to see the Blocão, which every year gathers costumed dogs.
