Russia – The Brasilians

Traveling to Russia is a unique opportunity to become familiar with the history and culture of Russia.

The country spans eleven time zones and two continents and is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. This is a great country with a variety of rivers, forests, and imposing mountains.

Now you have the chance to explore this land of stunning beauty and diversity, from the magnificent capitals, Moscow and St. Petersburg, to the everyday life of Siberian cities.

Of course, the capital of Russia would not miss out on the biggest football event in the world. Moscow will not only host the 2018 World Cup but will also be the stage for important and decisive matches.

But what can we say about the city? Well, it’s the typical example of a place that, once visited, completely transforms what you thought until then. If at first, you expected a rustic and even intimidating place, you will discover an extremely vibrant city, with a huge historical background and where the number of tourists has only increased each year.

The bustling metropolis enchants with its architecture and flow of people. Grand monuments and tourist attractions are part of the spectacle, such as Red Square, the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral, and the Bolshoi Theatre.

Red Square, for example, is the great heart of Moscow. It’s no wonder that the city’s main historical landmarks are located around it. With a past linked to communism, today the square serves as a reference point and postcard. Throughout the year, you can witness various events, parades, and mini public shows there.

Right near the square is the Kremlin fortress. It is within this enclosed area that the city was initially built and where the main offices of the Russian government currently reside. Therefore, it’s no surprise that it is the official residence of the President of Russia and a sort of complex of galleries, museums, and even cathedrals featuring pieces that depict the history of the city and the country.

And what about the Bolshoi Theatre? The place is home to the largest and most prestigious ballet company in the world. It is said that seeing one of its operas or a performance is one of the most romantic things to do in the city. In any case, the glamour, refinement, and technique that borders on perfection is something that draws people from all over the world to go to the theatre and watch one of the shows.

Of course, we still need to talk about St. Basil’s Cathedral. Located in Red Square itself, next to the walls of the Kremlin, the colorful and allegorical church was built in 1561 at the request of Ivan the Terrible. Legend has it that the Czar ordered the architect to be blinded so that he would never build anything so magnificent again.

Besides these places, it’s impossible not to mention Ulitsa Arbat. One of the oldest and most famous streets in Moscow. There, you can buy almost any type of gift and souvenir. Ideal for those who love to shop.

Originally occupied by Eastern merchants, it now houses a large artistic community and well-frequented cafés. This street is also home to the house where Pushkin lived with his wife, which has now been turned into a museum.

Of course, these are just the most famous places in the city; there are dozens of museums, monasteries, galleries, streets, squares, and other attractions to visit. Moscow is undoubtedly one of the most charming places to enjoy the Russian atmosphere and tradition.
