In the final stages of negotiations, Brazilian meat is set to expand exports to China and will begin to be sold in the markets of Indonesia and South Korea, reported the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply, Blairo Maggi. According to the minister, a Chinese mission will come to Brazil to increase the number of authorized slaughterhouses allowed to ship all types of meat (beef, pork, and poultry) to the country.
The Koreans will import Brazilian pork, supplied by Santa Catarina, as it is a foot-and-mouth disease-free area without vaccination, while Indonesian technicians have been in Brazil to discuss the details. Additionally, Brazilians and Russians have agreed to resume trade, which has been suspended since 2017. The minister has already sent a letter to the
sanitary authorities of Russia informing them of the measures taken by the country to resume shipments.
India
The import of live bovine and swine embryos from Brazil to India has also been officially announced, increasing Brazil’s presence in Asia. Since 2016, Brazil has been exporting bovine semen to Indian producers. The largest milk producer in the world, India is the origin of Zebu cattle.
However, the genetic improvement carried out on Brazilian Zebu cattle has yielded results in productivity gains and has made it attractive to producers in that country, according to the Secretariat of International Relations of Agribusiness. With the opening for the export of embryos, the country increases its presence in Indian livestock.
