The Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (Mdic), the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI), and the company Hyperloop will develop a research center, called the Global Innovation Center in Logistics, to create a high-speed cargo transport system capable of reaching 1,200 kilometers per hour.
The center will operate in the city of Contagem (MG), and activities are expected to begin later this year. The facility will include: a logistics research division of the company, a manufacturing laboratory, and an ecosystem of leading global companies, startups, universities, innovators, scientists, and governments from around the world focused on addressing growing logistics demands.
The initiative is officially supported by the Government of the State of Minas Gerais, the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Minas Gerais (Fapemig), the Federation of Industries of the State of Minas Gerais (Fiemg), the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI), and the municipality of Contagem (MG).
The agreement was made through a public-private partnership (PPP) with an investment of approximately R$ 26 million in its first phase, which includes contributions from the Secretary of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Higher Education (Sedectes), HyperloopTT, and private investors. Additionally, a physical space of 22,000 square meters and 4,000 meters.
