Take a Trip to Texas – The Brasilians

It’s true: everything is bigger in Texas. The food portions, the pickup trucks, the enormous cowboy hats, and even the thousands of kilometers of rugged and extraordinary terrain. This state offers such a vast array of experiences that it would take months, perhaps years, to explore all its details and peculiarities.Texas is so large and diverse that it is practically a country unto itself. In fact, from 1836 to 1845, it really was. The landscape of Texas showcases arid lands, coastlines, stunning mountains, and vast prairies. Its communities range from the height of urban sophistication (and size!) to the charm of the more remote small towns. What abounds there is culture: rodeos, country dancing, and various opportunities for adventure on horseback or mule. And finally, we arrive at barbecue. If you enjoy a good plate of ribs or brisket (served with family-style Texan sides), it will be hard to find a better place than Texas. The legendary Franklin Barbecue in Austin prides itself on having lines all day long. And it’s well worth it.

History buffs can travel throughout the Lone Star State to learn about its rich cultural legacy. San Antonio is home to the famous Alamo, a centuries-old Spanish mission where a long and bloody battle was fought in the early 19th century. Frontier Texas!, a bold museum in Abilene, shows visitors the “old west” through life-sized holograms. Naturally, Texas also brings a lot of cultural art and sophistication from the urban shine of Dallas and Houston to the irreverent funk of Austin. The latter is practically an island in the Texas Hill Country, an energetic and liberal region where you can expect the unexpected.Peculiarities of Texas: Besides cowboys and sprawling cities, Texas is also home to some peculiar attractions and sites. Visit Cadillac Ranch, which features a sculpture made of ten Cadillacs that serves as a monument to the “golden age” of the American automobile, or Lajitas Ghost Town, where the mayor is a goat that drinks beer. In Paris, Texas, you will even find the Eiffel Tower with a cowboy hat on top.
