The Brazilian Ballerina in the USA: Camila Schäefer Rodrigues

Professional ballerina trained at the Escola Estadual de Dança Maria Olenewa (the dance school of Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro), Camila took two years of classes with Nora Esteves, who is recognized worldwide, at the renowned Deborah Colker Movement Center. She graduated from the Joffrey Ballet School in New York and is currently taking classes at Steps on Broadway, also in New York, where she is preparing for future auditions.

In Brazil, Camila danced at Theatro Municipal in the productions of The Nutcracker and Coppelia. Here in the United States, she has danced with the Nashville Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, Joffrey Ballet Concert Group, Lotería Performing Arts, and Ziriguidum. She was an athlete and today acts as an ambassador (Team Capezio) for the largest dancewear brand in the United States called Capezio.

She won first place in the semifinal in New York and in the final in Canada at the World Ballet Art Competition in 2016, and in 2017 she won “Best Interpretation of the Contemporary Compulsory” in New York at the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition. Camila has participated in short films and music videos, among other projects.

Her most recent project was done with French photographer Solanne Fardel for a series called “Usual Day,” where Solanne says “I would like to do a funny serie about how people can see a professional ballerina in her Day life when she is not at work. (I did this photoshoot with Camila) because we love working together.”
