The Ministry of Tourism will launch, in the first half of October, a campaign to attract tourists from South America to Brazil. Named “Cone Sul”, the initiative will last about three months and will receive investments of up to R$ 4 million.
The campaign will consist of advertising aimed at digital media in Chile and Colombia. In Argentina, in addition to digital media, the advertising pieces will be published in newspapers, radio, and television.
The information was provided by the Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Álvaro Antônio, during a meeting with journalists on September 26 in Brasília. “We will carry out a major marketing action now in Argentina, in Buenos Aires, which is the main source of foreign tourists to Brazil. We know that Argentina is going through a crisis; we cannot let this number drop,” said the minister.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, Brazil received 6.6 million foreign tourists in 2018. Of this total, 38% came from Argentina, totaling about 2.5 million tourists.
The World Tourism Organization (WTO) released a report showing that out of every 5 tourists traveling the world, 4 choose to travel within the region where they live.
