The large number of tourist attractions makes it necessary to stay at least three days in the city.
If the idea is to visit some nearby cities like Canoa Quebrada, Morro Branco, or Cumbuco, you will need an additional two to three days.
Due to the large number of places to visit, I recommend doing at least the City Tour. It takes half a day, is not very expensive, and like any City Tour, it quickly passes by all the interesting points. Then you can return at your leisure to the places you liked the most.
There are several tourism companies that offer the City Tour of Fortaleza and excursions to nearby cities.
Start getting to know Fortaleza by visiting Av. Beira Mar, the Aterro da Praia de Iracema, and the piers at its ends. You will get to know the heart of the city. On weekends, the aterro is packed with people playing, running, or exercising.

Every late afternoon at Praia Meireles, there is the Feirinha Beira Mar with lots of handicrafts and very inviting prices.
At Praia do Mucuripe, we find the Fish Market, a must-visit place for those who love fish or seafood. The market is new with several stalls where we can choose and buy fish, shrimp, or lobster.
You choose the type and size of the “creature” you want to eat. The prices of the products are those of a market, very accessible.
Next door, there are kitchens to prepare your product on the spot, for very low prices. To top it off, there are tables where you can enjoy your delicious, freshly prepared dish.
To complete your experience, stop by Sorveteria 50 Sabores. It’s nearby on Avenida Beira Mar. The problem will be deciding which flavor to choose. The ice cream is not cheap, but the size is for at least two people, and you can also add various syrups and toppings at no extra charge. The quality of the ice cream is worth it.
The Ponte dos Ingleses is the ideal spot for photos of the sea and the city. The waves are big, breaking on the sand on one side and on rocks on the other, creating very beautiful effects. Of course, you have to hope for a sunny day so that the water looks nice and green.
The hotel network is very large; if you can choose, stay near Av. Beira Mar, the walk is pleasant and there is a wide variety of bars and restaurants.
Praia do Futuro is very beautiful and has hotels with very inviting prices, but it is not a place for walking tours; it is not very safe.
Even if you don’t take the City Tour, it is very easy to find online a list of places to visit, such as the Municipal Market, the Tourism Center in the old Municipal Jail, and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Visit Fortaleza, you will like it.
