Partnership of the Year: Starbucks Customers Can Now Earn Delta SkyMiles

Starbucks and Delta Air Lines have announced a strategic partnership that will benefit their most loyal consumers.

Since October 12, American customers enrolled in the Delta SkyMiles and Starbucks Rewards loyalty programs can link their accounts and start earning one mile for every $1.00 spent on qualifying purchases at Starbucks. On days when enrolled members have a scheduled flight with Delta, they will receive double points on qualifying purchases.

The new benefit is available to current members of the loyalty programs, as well as to new customers.

“We continue to develop Delta’s SkyMiles program to provide our customers with valuable experiences not only on the days they travel but also in their everyday lives,” said Prashant Sharma, Vice President of Delta’s loyalty program.

Starbucks Rewards and Delta SkyMiles are focused on creating moments of meaningful connection, and by bringing together two of the country’s most celebrated loyalty programs, we can reward our members with more of what they love,” said Ryan Butz, Vice President of Loyalty, Strategy, and Marketing at Starbucks.

Launched in 2009, the industry-leading Starbucks Rewards program continues to grow in popularity and offers members rewards such as free coffees, personalized offers, games, and the ability to place orders in advance and pay through the Starbucks app.

In the past five years, new member enrollment in the U.S. has more than doubled, with over 27 million active members as of July 2022. Additionally, Starbucks Rewards transactions accounted for more than half of purchases across all stores operated by the company in the U.S. during the same period.

Delta’s SkyMiles program is also a leader in its sector, offering benefits such as unlimited mileage accumulation and opportunities for its passengers to have greater access to premium seats on domestic and international flights.
