Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel platform, announced the “Best of the Best Beaches” award for 2023 as part of its annual Travellers’ Choice awards.
The Travellers’ Choice award selects winners based on the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings that travelers from around the world give on the platform. The information was collected over a 12-month period, from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022.
Climbing six positions from the previous year, last year’s favorite beach for tourists was Baía do Sancho, located on the Brazilian island of Fernando de Noronha.
Part of a group of volcanic islands just over 200 miles off the country’s northeast coast, this area is known for its rugged coastline and diverse ecosystems. Off the beaten path and accessible only by stairs from the mainland, Baía do Sancho is famous not only for its perfect turquoise waters and white sandy beach but also for its exotic variety of wildlife. Travelers who venture into the warm, clear waters may be lucky enough to spot sea turtles, rays, dolphins, and even reef sharks. Flanked by forest-covered cliffs, this wild and untouched location is also known for the friendly crabs that scuttle along the shore.

In the United States, Ka’anapali Beach on the Hawaiian island of Maui was voted number 1, climbing 16 positions from the previous year. The white sand and crystal-clear water make this palm-filled paradise, bathed by gentle waves of the Pacific Ocean, as perfect as can be.
For those seeking more than relaxation, there’s Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island, Georgia, which ranks third on the list, described by Tripadvisor travelers as “out of this world” thanks to the ancient floating wooden monuments that adorn the coast.
There are three other newcomers in this year’s top 10, including Hanalei on the island of Kauai in 4th place.
