Do You Know What the Number 1 Vacation Destination in the U.S. Is?

Among Brazilians, we knew that Orlando is the favorite vacation destination. Well, know that the magical city in central Florida is also a favorite destination among Americans and people from other nationalities.

The Official Tourism Association of Orlando announced 74 million annual visitors in 2022. With a 25% increase in the number of visitors compared to 2021, Orlando maintains its leading position as the most visited destination in the United States. By reaching 74 million visitors, Orlando achieved 98% of pre-pandemic levels (2019).

“Last year proved to be an important recovery period for Orlando’s tourism industry, with high demand from our key markets in the U.S. and internationally,” said Casandra Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. “The launch of our new international brand and our strong commitment to strategic sales and marketing initiatives, combined with the ongoing evolution of our destination with new experiences, helped Orlando maintain its leadership position.”

The new brand “Unbelievably Real from Visit Orlando” was first introduced in May 2022 for domestic visitors, followed by an international marketing campaign in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Peru.

The campaigns reached 54% of Orlando’s target market households and generated over $8 billion in visitor spending.

In 2022, leisure travel in the country fully recovered and reached a new record of 61 million, while business travel is still in recovery mode:

• Visitors from the United States: 69,141,000 (up 21% from the previous year)

• Leisure: 61,201,000

• Business: 7,940,000

International tourism recovered 75% of pre-pandemic levels, reaching 4.9 million in 2022. Canada, the UK, and Brazil were the top three international origin markets for Orlando.

• Canada: 860,700

• United Kingdom: 809,000

• Brazil: 575,000

• Mexico: 394,000

• Colombia: 287,000

In 2023, Orlando, the world capital of theme parks, continues to grow with new experiences for visitors to enjoy – from a new eco-friendly high-speed rail service connecting Orlando and Miami to theme park experiences, including a new family attraction inspired by the Minions.
