“Peach Fuzz” Will Be the Color of 2024

Pantone has revealed that “Peach Fuzz” will be the color of the year for 2024, following the reign of “Viva Magenta” in 2023. In the announcement, Pantone stated that Peach Fuzz is “a sincere peach tone that brings a feeling of tenderness and communicates a message of love, sharing, community, and collaboration.”

“In the search for a color that echoes our innate longing for closeness and connection, we chose a radiant color with warmth and modern elegance,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and easily connects the young with the timeless.”

Selecting a color to represent a year is a tradition of Pantone. The first color of the year was chosen in 1999 when the company selected Cerulean Blue. What is Pantone?

Pantone is best known for its ‘Pantone Matching System,’ a tool created in 1963 used to provide consistent and accurate colors anywhere in the world, using a numbering system and chip format.

According to Pantone, its color language is used across various industries, including textiles, apparel, beauty, interiors, architectural and industrial design, among others.

Pantone also manages the Pantone Color Institute, which selects the color of the year, forecasts global color trends, and advises companies on colors for brand identity and product development.

Pantone’s colors of the year ultimately shape product development and consumer decisions in fashion, industrial and interior design, product packaging, and other areas of industry.

Many on social media agreed with the choice, describing it as beautiful and refreshing. Others found it a boring, out-of-reach, and unflattering color. What was the Pantone color of the year for 2023?

Pantone selected Viva Magenta as the color of the year for 2023, describing it as “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time.”
