These 11 Liquids Are Allowed in Your Carry-On, Regardless of Size

Surely you have felt nervous before a flight because you forgot some liquid in your carry-on and the airport security made you throw it away before boarding.

Since September 11, passengers have been required to carry their liquids in small containers that do not exceed 100 ml and that do not total more than one liter per person.
So, what has changed?

In the United States, still nothing! According to The New York Post, there are speculations that some liquids may be transported in their original size and container in the very near future.

The New York Post reported that the 3D CT scanners used in airports to detect unauthorized liquids may be eliminated, allowing personal hygiene products to travel in normal size.

There are already some airports (especially in Europe) where this restriction has been lifted since 2023. The TSA (Transportation Security Administration) has informed its employees that it expects this limit to be lifted in the very near future, but for now, the 100ml rule is still in effect.
Are there liquids that can be transported in their original format?

Yes. The TSA states that there is a list of 11 products that can travel in their original size. These are related to daily use (many of them practically essential for health and well-being).

The list of these items is as follows:

1. Baby formula: If you are traveling with a baby, you can bring breast milk or formula in the amount you need without worrying about the usual limits.

2. Water and baby formula: In addition to milk, you can bring water to prepare formula on board.

3. Liquid medications: Anyone who needs liquid medications can bring them without issues. The TSA recommends having a prescription or some medical document justifying them on hand in case authorities do not allow their passage.

4. Hand sanitizer: This product, which became essential during the pandemic, was already allowed in normal size and will continue to be.

5. Nasal sprays and saline solutions: Very useful for those who need to maintain respiratory health on long trips, these products can be transported without volume limits.

6. Eye drops: For all those who wear contact lenses or suffer from dry eyes, this allowance is a relief, and they will not need justification to bring them on their travels.

7. Non-flammable hair and body sprays: These personal care products (as long as they are not flammable) are also on the TSA’s list.

8. Contact lens solution: Essential for contact lens users.

9. Denture cleaning fluid: Denture users can carry their cleaning products without worrying about volume limits.

10. Creams and lotions (for medical use)

11. Inhalation fluids: Liquids necessary for inhalation devices (for people with asthma or respiratory problems)

12. Live fish transported in water and other biological specimens.

13. Ice or freezer bags for necessary medical items (such as vaccines that need to be kept cold)
