Trump Confirms Plans to Use Military for Mass Deportations

President-elect Donald Trump confirmed on Monday (18) that he is planning to declare a ‘national emergency’ to use the United States military to carry out mass deportations.

Trump has made his promise to deport millions of undocumented immigrants one of the cornerstones of his 2024 campaign, and his team has already begun to devise strategies to implement the plan.

The post on the social network Truth Social on Monday morning was the first time the president-elect confirmed how his administration will execute the controversial plan.

It is estimated that there are 11 million illegal immigrants living in the U.S. Trump’s mass deportations are expected to impact around 20 million families across the country.

Lawyers and immigration advocates are preparing to challenge the plan in court.

During his first term, Trump declared a national emergency at the border with Mexico to bypass Congress and use Pentagon funds to build the wall at the border — a measure that generated numerous lawsuits.

The president-elect’s team is trying to draft executive orders that can withstand legal challenges to avoid a similar defeat to what occurred with the Muslim entry ban during Trump’s first term.

His plans also include ending the parole program for immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.

Trump has also begun to fill his Cabinet with ‘hardline’ immigration officials.

This includes the selection of Tom Homan, the former acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to serve as his ‘border czar’ and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as his Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

People close to the president-elect and his advisors are laying the groundwork to expand detention centers so that the campaign promise of mass deportation can actually be realized.
