Rhythmic Gymnastics: Brazil Wraps Up World Cup Stage with Three Golds

Brazil concluded its participation in the Portimão (Portugal) stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup with three gold medals. The first gold medal for the group formed by Maria Eduarda Arakaki, Nicole Pircio, Bárbara Galvão, Mariana Gonçalves, Maria Paula Caminha and Ana Luiza Franceschi came last Saturday (10) in the all-around, which consists of the sum of the scores from the mixed and simple routines in a competition.

In the mixed routine, which in this Olympic cycle is performed with three balls and two hoops, Brazil showcased, for the first time, its choreography to the sound of “Evidências”, a song that achieved great success in the voices of Chitãozinho e Xororó. The performance of the team led by Camila Ferezin earned 26.150 points. On Friday, the simple routine had yielded 25.200 points. Thus, the green-and-yellow group reached 51.350 points in the total.

This Sunday (11), Brazil secured two more golds. The first came in the five ribbons, an apparatus in which the Brazilian group scored 26.700. Surpassing Spain (silver with 23.050 points) and the United States (bronze with 20.150 points).

The last Brazilian gold medal came in the mixed routine (three balls and two hoops), again to the sound of “Evidências”. This performance earned the Brazilians 26.150 points, surpassing the United States (silver with 22.300 points) and Spain (bronze with 22.200 points).

“We are happy with our results in Portimão; we worked hard when we resumed training after the Paris Olympic Games. At no point did we get discouraged—on the contrary. The first World Championships in our country [to be held in August 2025] is a source of inspiration for us to keep going confidently and continue fighting for great results for our country. Our debut couldn’t have been better: three golds. Wow!”, declared coach Camila Ferezin.
