Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered on Monday (21) the blocking of federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro’s (PL-SP) bank accounts and assets.
With this measure, the lawmaker is barred from making financial transactions, including receiving cash donations via Pix from former President Jair Bolsonaro, his father, to fund his stay in the United States.
According to Bolsonaro himself, around R$ 2 million has already been sent to Eduardo.
In March this year, the deputy requested leave from his parliamentary term and moved to the United States, alleging political persecution. The leave ended on Sunday (20). The lawmaker has already said he will not resign.
According to the internal regulations of the Chamber of Deputies, the deputy can be removed from office for absences if he does not return to Brazil.
He is under investigation at the STF for inciting the U.S. government to adopt measures against the Brazilian government and the STF due to the criminal case involving the coup plot, in which Bolsonaro is one of the defendants.
On Friday (18), in the same inquiry, the former president was the target of a Federal Police (PF) operation and was required to wear an electronic ankle monitor and prohibited from leaving home between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The measures were ordered by the justice after the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) alleged flight risk for the former president, who is set to be tried by the Supreme Court in September.
In a podcast appearance, Eduardo Bolsonaro reported the account blocking and stated that nothing will be found.
