Justice Cristiano Zanin, president of the First Panel of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), has scheduled the start of the criminal trial targeting former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other allies, all defendants for attempted coup d’état, for September 2.
The trial is set to begin at 9 a.m. In total, Zanin has reserved eight sessions for the case analysis, six of them extraordinary, meaning held at times outside the regular schedule for the First Panel.
Besides September 2, with one session in the morning and another in the afternoon, the remaining sessions are scheduled for September 3, 9, 10, and 12, according to the timetable released by the First Panel’s secretariat.
Criminal case 2668 is the most advanced related to the coup plot denounced by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and targets nucleus 1 of the plot, also called the “crucial” nucleus, a group comprising what would be the main ringleaders of the conspiracy.
