The Magic of the Circus – The Brasilians

Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at the Biblioteca Brasileira de Nova York, a special event celebrates Circus Day and honors one of the most traditional and enchanting artistic expressions of Brazilian culture.

The choice of date is symbolic: in Brazil, Circus Day is celebrated on March 27, in homage to Abelardo Pinto, the famous clown Piolim, one of the greatest icons in the country’s circus history.

The Brazilian artist Jefferson Freire, who will present a show full of technique, emotion, and charisma—a native of São Paulo—discovered his passion for juggling at a young age. What began as a game soon became a profession. His training started on the streets under the guidance of artist Anderson Pereira da Silva, where he developed his own engaging style.

Throughout his career, Jefferson joined important companies such as Circo Tápias Voadores and Circo Universo Casuo, while also investing in his artistic training as an actor and musician.

Since 2018 in the United States, he has been consolidating his international career, participating in major circus events, including the International Jugglers’ Association in Las Vegas, where he was awarded. He was also part of the Circus Bella group, worked as an instructor in San Francisco, and currently performs with the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus in New York.

In parallel, he continues to deepen his musical studies as a violinist at the Juilliard School, one of the world’s most prestigious institutions.

More than a show, the event reinforces the role of the Biblioteca Brasileira de Nova York as a key space for promoting Brazilian culture abroad, fostering the community’s connection to its roots.

A celebration that promises to enchant all ages, bringing together tradition, talent, and cultural identity.
