Ace Frehley, founding guitarist of Kiss, dies at 74

The rock world has been shaken by the death of Ace Frehley, the iconic guitarist and one of the founding members of the band Kiss, at the age of 74. The sad news was confirmed through an official statement released by his representatives. “We are completely devastated and heartbroken,” the text says. “In his final moments, we were fortunate to surround him with words, thoughts, prayers, and loving, caring, and peaceful intentions as he left this Earth.”

The statement also celebrates the guitarist’s life and legacy. “We cherish all his best memories, his laughs, and celebrate the strength and kindness he dedicated to others. The magnitude of his departure is of epic proportions and incomprehensible. Reflecting on all his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will live on forever,” the representatives concluded.

Frehley, who made history alongside Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss in the original Kiss lineup, was one of the pillars of rock in the 1970s and 1980s. His contribution to music was marked both in his solo career and during his stint with Kiss, from 1973 to 1982. Although he left the group due to “creative differences,” Frehley returned to the band from 1996 to 2002 and continued his career as a solo artist.

The guitarist also stood out with the band Frehley’s Comet, famous for the single “Into the Night”. His career was interrupted by health problems, according to a statement published in September 2025. Initially, Frehley’s team stated that he was fine after suffering a “minor fall” and canceled a show, but a week later, it was confirmed that all his scheduled commitments would be suspended due to health issues.

Ace Frehley’s loss leaves a void in the music world, and his story with Kiss and his solo career will continue to be remembered by generations of fans.
