Young People See AI Knowledge as a Job Differentiator – The Brasilians

A survey released this Wednesday (3) shows that 80% of young people believe that knowledge about Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an impactful factor for getting a job. The survey, conducted by Nexus and Demà, interviewed 2,016 people aged 14 to 29 across the 27 federative units, from July 14 to 20. The sample’s margin of error is two percentage points, with a 95% confidence level.

The survey also indicated that 11% of young people believe AI knowledge makes no difference for obtaining employment, 3% think it is even harmful, and 2% did not know how to respond.

Learning

When evaluating the use of AI tools, 69% of young people think they can help in the learning process, while 24% believe they can harm it, and 7% do not know or did not respond.

According to the survey, 83% use AI for general or academic research; 71% believe the tool helps with homework, assignments, and studying for exams in schools, colleges, universities, or technical schools. Meanwhile, 70% use AI to translate texts and 67% to summarize or correct publications.

According to the survey, 66% of young people use AI to generate new ideas in some activity, 63% create images; 62% use it to write new texts, and 52% use it to prepare presentations or reports.

“It is very representative that at least half of the respondents confirm they use AI in some way. Undoubtedly, Artificial Intelligence is a facilitating agent for our daily demands, an ally of efficiency and productivity. These perceptions are clearly reflected in this survey, which shows, for example, that the vast majority of teenagers use it to help with homework. AI has come to stay and transform our journeys, especially those of learning,” highlighted Demà director Juan Carlos Moreno.
