A few days before International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, a committee formed by representatives from Brazil’s three branches of government presented, on Wednesday (March 4), a plan to combat gender-based violence in the country. One of the highlights of the initiative is a national effort to serve around 1,000 arrest warrants against aggressors who remain fugitives across the country.
The joint effort will be nationally led by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, in collaboration with state security forces.
In addition to conducting operations to serve arrest warrants, the plans include the adoption of a tracking system for aggressors whose victims are under protective measures, as well as a new integrated women’s security center to centralize data and monitoring.
