Anitta, Caetano Veloso, Ivete Sangalo, and Maria Bethânia were the first attractions announced for the 2025 New Year’s Eve in Rio, internationally known as the largest New Year’s celebration in the world.
In the coming weeks, the mayor of Rio will detail other singers to perform on 13 stages throughout the city.
For the 2025 New Year’s Eve, Copacabana will host 20 sound towers and two stages: Rio (in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel), to celebrate the diversity of Brazilian music, and “Pra Sambar.” The fireworks show, lasting 12 minutes, will feature ten barges in Copacabana and three more at Flamengo beach.
It is worth noting that fireworks are also scheduled for other neighborhoods, such as Barra da Tijuca and Recreio dos Bandeirantes, but on top of hotels, not on the beach.
The other locations where stages are planned to celebrate the arrival of 2025 include: Flamengo Beach, Ramos Beach, Madureira Park, Governor’s Island, Paquetá Island, Bangu, Inhoaíba, Sepetiba Beach, and Barra de Guaratiba.
Last year, there were 12 stages and 12 barges spread across the city with a fireworks show that gathered five million people, with 2.5 million alone on the Copacabana waterfront – in addition to 30,000 people on seven cruise ships. The economic impact was R$ 3 billion.
